Court says prosecutors lack evidence of heroin crime in Florida

When someone is arrested in Florida on suspicion of a drug crime, it can take weeks or months for the case to be adjudicated. Awaiting a pretrial hearing can be a very stressful experience. However, it is sometimes well worth the wait. One man who was recently acquitted of heroin charges against him would likely agree.

The man was arrested in July. Authorities accused him of lacing heroin with elephant tranquilizers. Two people died, and it was suspected that their deaths were caused by using the allegedly laced heroin provided to them by the man in question.

This case is a perfect example of why it is always important to remember that being charged with a crime does not constitute guilt. As it stands, the court determined that there was not enough evidence against the accused to warrant a trial. He was fully acquitted of all charges against him and can now go about his daily life without worrying whether he will be convicted.

Being charged with a heroin crime in Florida is definitely no small matter. If one is able to remain calm and access available support networks, the outcome may turn out to be a lot more positive than expected. Lack of evidence, violation of personal rights and various other legal issues may work in a defendant's favor to avoid a trial. By connecting with an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible after an arrest is made, a defendant may increase the chance of successfully preserving his or her freedom.
