Charged with drunk driving in Florida?

No one wants to see flashing red and blue lights in their rear view mirror as they drive home following a night on the town with friends. A flood of thoughts may bombard your mind the moment you realize a Florida police officer is pulling you over. If you imbibed by having a drink or two with your dinner, you may be a bit more nervous than usual, and with good reason, as it doesn't take much to prompt drunk driving charges.

In fact, even if you had nothing to drink, if your tires veered slightly over the center line of traffic, an officer may pull you over on suspicion of impaired driving. Depending on the circumstances, he or she may ask you to step out of your vehicle and perform several field sobriety tests. That's enough to make your blood pressure soar, and in your nervous state, you might not fare so well on those tests, which can lead to some very serious legal trouble.

You may also be asked to submit to a Breathalyzer or other chemical test. Although no one can force you to take such tests, if you refuse, you activate an automatic administrative penalty system that, in this state, would include a one-year driver's license suspension for a first offense. The bottom line is that whether you consumed alcohol or not, overcoming drunk driving charges in court can be extremely challenging.

If your arrest took place in Florida, you have experienced defense assistance at the ready through Rogo Law. Aggressive representation is often needed to obtain a positive outcome in such circumstances. Penalties for drunk driving convictions are quite severe and usually increase in severity if it is a repeat offense; therefore, the best chance to avoid conviction may lie in allowing an experienced attorney to act on your behalf in court.
