Man, woman charged with marijuana possession in Florida

The criminal justice system may seem like an intimidating labyrinth to individuals who do not fully understand how certain legal proceedings work. As a result, many parties who have been accused of alleged crimes may quickly feel overwhelmed by the situations they face. Luckily, these individuals do have options for how they may wish to proceed, and information regarding charges -- such as for marijuana possession -- is available.

Two individuals in Florida may be considering their options after recently being taken into custody. Reports stated that police attempted to stop a pickup truck after noticing that the license plate was obscured. The driver of the truck allegedly continued traveling for some distance before stopping and exiting the vehicle. That individual -- reported as being a 53-year-old man -- tried to walk away but stopped when police spoke to him.

The man allegedly stated that he had a suspended license, which apparently led to a officer placing the man under arrest. The man was also reportedly searched, and the officer supposedly found marijuana on him. It was also noted that there was a 21-year-old female passenger in the truck at the time of the stop, and she was also searched. The officer reportedly also found marijuana in her purse. As a result, both individuals were charged with marijuana possession.

If the individuals feel it could be in their best interests, they may each wish to explore their options for creating and presenting a criminal defense to combat the marijuana charges and other allegations brought against them. A better understanding of their specific predicaments could help the man and woman determine which paths seem most feasible. In addition, they may each wish to consult with their legal counsel in order to discuss how certain legal measures are handled in Florida.
