Woman accused of drunk driving, offering oral sex to deputies

One woman in Florida was recently taken into custody after police said she was driving under the influence. Authorities said she was also found to have drugs on her. Police said the woman, a 24-year-old university student, made her situation worse by offering oral sex to deputies in an effort to get the drunk driving and drug-related charges dropped.

The 24-year-old woman was reportedly intoxicated when police pulled her over shortly before 2:50 a.m. on a Monday. Officials said the woman failed many sobriety tests. In an effort to avoid arrest, she then reportedly offered to give a deputy oral sex as long as he looked away.

The police officer declined, and the woman was taken to jail. When two other officers searched her, they allegedly found a bag containing cocaine in the woman's bra as well as a bag containing marijuana in the woman's purse. The woman is said to have offered sex acts to the deputies in exchange for freedom once again. The woman was instead charged with bribery, bringing contraband into a jail, DUI and drug possession. Police said the woman's blood alcohol content was double the legal limit.

The woman's drunk driving and other criminal charges have to be proved beyond a reasonable doubt by prosecutors in a Florida court before a conviction can be handed down. This standard exists to protect innocent people from being found guilty and sentenced for crimes they never committed. Instead of going to trial, however, the woman may be offered the opportunity to plea bargain with prosecutors. This may lead to a lighter sentence for her than what would be imposed if she were to be found guilty at trial.
