Police arrested man on drug charges after package delivered

One man in Florida is currently facing drug-related charges. His arrest took place on a recent Wednesday. Authorities arrested the man on drug charges after they learned about a pot shipment slated to arrive in town.

Investigators said they found out that a marijuana package was supposed to be delivered to a particular home. Police then arrived at the home and waited there. That is when a man, 24, reportedly picked up this package.

Officials said they discovered that the package contained more than 20 pounds of pot. Police said the man's last known place of residence was in another Florida city. The man allegedly admitted that the package of drugs was intended for him. He also said he used the home where police found him solely for the purpose of receiving the drug delivery.

It is within the rights of the man facing drug charges to proceed to trial if he believes this to be in his best interest. Prosecutors have to prove the drug charges by appropriate as well as relevant evidence before a criminal conviction can be secured. In some cases, the weight of the possible evidence suggests that the defendant should seek to negotiate a plea deal. If it is available, a plea agreement might result in lighter charges and/or a more lenient sentence than what would have been imposed following a finding of guilt in court. Defense counsel will pursue the best outcome for the accused while also striving to ensure that all of his rights are honored at all stages of the criminal justice proceedings.
