Woman facing drug charges after passing out in car

One woman in Florida was recently arrested on drug charges. The arrest on drug charges took place after police reportedly found the under-the-influence woman passed out in a vehicle. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning in mid-October.

Police said employees at a convenience store on U.S. Highway 441 contacted police shortly before 3:45 a.m., as a woman appeared to be sleeping in a running car at one of its gas pumps. When police arrived at the scene, they woke up the 35-year-old woman. They said the woman told them she had fallen asleep after having worked all day.

Police then asked her about some white powder that was on her driver's seat. She said it was methamphetamine, which she said someone else had left in the car. They later discovered two metal spoons and a used syringe inside an envelope located on the passenger seat, as well as a small quantity of marijuana in the panel of the driver's side door. Police reported that yet another bag of the methamphetamine was pulled from the woman's bra. They said she had been passed out for so long that a spider had created a web between the car and gas pump.

The woman now faces charges of possessing both methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as having drug paraphernalia. Like any other person charged with a crime in Florida, the woman facing drug charges has the right to go to trial to aggressively fight the charges. Alternatively, the individual might choose to pursue a plea deal with prosecutors, if available. The terms of a plea agreement offered by the prosecution typically depend on the strength of the prosecutor's evidence. If the evidence is strong, a plea deal might offer the benefit of a more lenient sentence than what would be imposed if a conviction is secured at trial.
