Police say man threw bags of heroin across parking lot

There are typically certain things a person should not do, if approached by police in the parking lot of a Florida motel. One of them is to run away while tossing baggies containing unidentified substances into the air. This is what apparently raised investigators' suspicions at a motel in another state. In fact, the incident led to federal charges involving heroin.

Authorities say a particular man was already under their scrutiny because they'd made several illegal drug purchases from him through controlled buys. On a day in April, police saw him at a motel and tried to make contact. Officers say when they approached the man, he dropped a box he had been carrying.

The man allegedly then took off running, tossing some sort of small packets into the air as he ran. He was arrested soon after this occurrence. Police say they seized nearly 200 packets of heroin at the scene. They also reportedly searched the man's home and took more than $30,000 cash into custody as well.

The man is now facing federal heroin charges and has been detained without bond. In similar Florida situations, it often comes down to police officers' words against those of a defendant. The average person doesn't have the needed wherewithal to combat tenacious tactics of aggressive prosecutors in court. Therefore, it's generally a good idea to rely on highly experienced criminal defense assistance in such situations, in the hope of mitigating one's circumstances and obtaining the best overall outcome possible in a specific incident.
