Not all drug charges stand in court

A man has filed a lawsuit in Florida because of an incident that occurred during a traffic stop. He says he was arrested and faced unjust drug charges. The situation had to do with a chemical test reportedly conducted on a doughnut he had in his car.

The man was apparently pulled over by police. The particular reason the officer pulled him over was not publicized. However, during the stop, field tests were administered that included chemically testing the icing on a doughnut he had in his vehicle.

The icing supposedly tested positive for methamphetamine. The officer arrested the man, and he was charged with a drug crime. Another chemical test was carried out on the same doughnut at a state laboratory. Charges against the man were then dismissed.

The man has filed a legal claim against the Florida city of Orlando, as well as the company responsible for the chemical test that was used at the scene of the traffic stop. His is not the first situation of its kind as a man in another state says his reputation was ruined when he was charged with a drug crime after kitty litter contained in a sock he had in his car (to keep windows from fogging) supposedly tested positive for methamphetamine twice. A third test correctly identified the substance as kitty litter, but the man said he was already labeled as a drug lord and was embarrassed to have his mug shot publicized. His attorney said the issue may be faulty testing equipment. Anyone who believes drug charges have been wrongly filed may pursue the matter through a criminal defense attorney.
