Arrests and drug charges follow search of Florida home

At least seven different people will be heading to court after a recent drug bust at a home in Florida. The local sheriff's department in that area is said to have used a search warrant as their entry ticket into the Venice home. Drug charges have been filed and substantial bond amounts set.

Police allegedly executed the search warrant on a recent Thursday morning. Prior to that time, however, authorities claim they have responded to at least 42 calls at the same residence since the first day in January 2016. Many of those calls were reportedly drug-related. Several calls apparently had to do with other types of disturbances.

Since September, investigators have been keeping their eyes on the residence. On several occasions, they claim to have made drug purchases there by sending an undercover informant to the house to buy methamphetamine. During those visits, a 48-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man supposedly sold the drugs to the informant.

When officers searched the residence, there were at least 11 people inside. Police say they found syringes, buprenorphine, methamphetamine, hydrocodone and other drug paraphernalia during their search. Ultimately, seven of the people inside the home were arrested and will now face various drug charges in court. As in all drug-related cases in Florida, each person accused will be given an opportunity to present as strong a defense as possible in the hope of avoiding conviction. The chances of obtaining such an outcome are often increased when the assistance of an experienced criminal defense attorney is sought before proceeding to court.
