Hundreds of arrests nationwide in federal sex crimes sting

A mother in Florida recently lamented the tragic loss of her 14-year-old daughter. The girl apparently died of a drug overdose. Moreover, the incident is reportedly connected to a recent federal sex crimes sting across the nation. All told, at least 200 arrests have taken place and approximately 80 minors rescued from a dangerous sex trafficking operation.

The mother of the young girl who died was recently interviewed by People magazine. The woman told reporters that those responsible for her daughter's death knew she was a juvenile. She also said another of her daughters had been lured into the same sex trafficking situation.

Those who responded to the crisis said they arrived too late, after the girl had ingested Xanax and cold medicine. It is believed her traffickers coerced her into taking the drugs so that they could then force her to commit prostitution. All four persons believed to be associated with the girl's situation have been arrested and taken into police custody.

The ages of the four most recently arrested in connection with the sex crimes range from 19 to 26. The string of trafficking events the two sisters are believed to have been part of allegedly occurred over a six-day period in August 2016. Anyone who has been charged with serious sex-related offenses in Florida knows that the law comes down hard on those convicted. Each person charged with a crime may secure assistance to build as strong a defense as possible. In fact, obtaining any sort of positive outcome often hinges upon skilled and aggressive representation.
