Florida woman charged with drunk driving, child neglect

Individuals facing charges for DUI may have many questions about how to handle their predicaments. One Florida woman may be hoping to find answers of her own after recently being taken into custody for alleged drunk driving. Reports stated that the woman had purportedly been driving an SUV with two children inside when she was involved in a single-car crash.

Reports stated that the woman had hit five mailboxes and a dumpster. She was apparently not at the scene when authorities arrived, and she had purportedly been taken to a hospital by a family member. It was unclear how the family member became aware of the incident. However, the two children were reportedly left in the car unattended, though they were also injured. Another family member came to the scene to get the children medical attention.

Authorities reportedly found an open 6-pack of beer inside the vehicle, and officers went to the hospital in order to question the woman. The woman reportedly told police that she had blacked out due to drinking. She allegedly failed a sobriety test, and as a result, she was charged with DUI, two counts of DUI causing property damage and two counts of child neglect.

The drunk driving and other charges brought against the woman may leave her feeling uncertain about her options. Details on the specific charges leveled against her may allow her to better understand the situation and find ways to move forward with her criminal defense. If she is interested, she may also find it useful to consult with an experienced Florida attorney in order to gain more information and assistance.
