Drunk driving, manslaughter charges levied against Florida man

A recent incident in Florida has led to one man facing criminal charges. Reports stated that the man was allegedly driving under the influence when he struck a second vehicle that was carrying two occupants. As a result of the reported accident, the man is currently facing manslaughter charges relating to drunk driving

Reports indicate that the accident took place when the 36-year-old man allegedly failed to stop at a red light. Another vehicle was traveling through the intersection at that time, and the man's vehicle collided with it. The incident took place just before 1 a.m. The two occupants of the second vehicle were transported from the scene in critical condition, and an update to the incident reported that a 34-year-old woman died from her injuries.

Police reportedly believe that the male driver was exhibiting signs that he was impaired. He apparently did not perform a field sobriety test in a satisfactory manner, and as a result, he was initially charged with two counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury. Due to the death of the woman, he is now facing a DUI manslaughter charge.

In order to contend with the drunk driving charges brought against him, the man will undoubtedly wish to create and present a criminal defense. His options for such a defense will vary depending on the circumstances of the alleged event; therefore, he may wish to gain more specific knowledge regarding the charges and other factors of his case. Consulting with an experienced Florida attorney may also prove valuable.
