Felonies: Man charged with criminal mischief in Florida

Being held at gunpoint can be a rather terrifying experience. The situation can become even more overwhelming when the individual being held also ends up being charged with felonies. This situation was the case for one man in Florida after a maintenance worker held the man at gunpoint after suspecting the man of attempting to break into a church.

Reports stated that the worker had gone to the church to board up glass doors that had apparently been broken earlier in the day. He stated that since he was unsure if anyone entered the church, he took a concealed weapon with him. While working, he saw a man who was suspected to have been the individual to break the doors earlier. The man reportedly ran away, and the worker followed.

The worker pulled out his gun and pointed it at the man after locating him in the bushes nearby. He and other individuals called emergency services, and the man was taken into custody on a charge of felony criminal mischief. The worker is reportedly not facing charges and is being considered a victim in the case.

Because felonies can come with increased punishments if a conviction takes place, the man accused in this case will likely want to take steps to avoid such an outcome. In doing so, he may wish to prepare and present a criminal defense against the allegations in hopes of working toward an outcome he desires. Consulting with his legal counsel may also allow him to gain valuable information on his case and what legal options may prove useful in Florida criminal court.
