Alleged drunk driving leads to manslaughter charge in Florida

It is often noted that driving under the influence can potentially cause serious accidents and injuries. However, many individuals may be less familiar with the legal proceedings that may occur if an individual is accused of drunk driving and any related charges. As a result, individuals in this type of predicament may wish to explore legal options and gather information to help them determine the best possible courses of action.

One man in Florida may be hoping to become more knowledgeable in certain legal areas after recently being taken into custody. Reports stated that the man was arrested in relation to an accident that occurred in 2014 and led to the death of a pedestrian. Allegedly, the man was driving east when he struck the pedestrian, who was attempting to cross the street.

At the time of the incident, authorities purportedly stated that the driver had bloodshot eyes and smelled like alcohol. It was also reported that a toxicology test allegedly indicated that the man's blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit, at .087 percent. He also purportedly had a prescription drug in his system. As a result, the man is now facing a DUI manslaughter charge.

It is likely that the man will want to prepare and present a criminal defense against the drunk driving allegations he currently faces. Therefore, he may find it useful to gain more information on his defense options and how such cases are handled within the Florida criminal justice system. If he wishes to do so, he may also consider discussing his case with an experienced criminal defense attorney for additional insight.
