2 brothers face drug charges, fraud charges in Florida

Two individuals in Florida were recently arrested after allegedly committing drug crimes as well as fraud. Their fraud and drug charges came after police searched their home. The two men facing criminal charges are brothers.

Police executed a search warrant at the brothers' home on a Tuesday. They then arrested the two men, both in their late 20s, on a Wednesday morning. Authorities said the two men had a sophisticated but illegal family business that they were running out of their home, which led to the drug charges as well as charges of possessing stolen credit cards and organized fraud.

The two men's attorney claimed that the charges brought against both of them were not justified. However, authorities said they discovered more than 50 counterfeit credit cards as well as cash and identity theft-related information. They also reportedly found thousands of dollars' worth of the drug cocaine as well as marijuana. The marijuana's street value was said to be valued at $20,000, while the cocaine's street value was reportedly more than $15,000.

Individuals facing drug charges and other criminal charges in Florida may find comfort in the fact that they are presumed innocent unless their guilt is proved beyond a reasonable doubt by prosecutors. A chief area on which the criminal defense might choose to focus is the evidence that the prosecution plans to provide in court to support the criminal charges. Instead of going to trial, a defendant may try to negotiate a plea deal with the prosecution, which may result in a more favorable sentence for him or her.
